Multimedia Portfolio
Hi! I’m Megan, a recent Media Studies graduate from the University of Virginia working as a freelance writer and content creator. I bring skills across a variety of platforms, with experience in broadcast radio, healthcare communications, feature writing, audio editing, social media, and digital marketing.
As an independent musician, I also take a deep interest in the arts and in uplifting local businesses. Take a look through my portfolio to see how I’ve applied my skills as a multimedia creator so far.
Social Media Marketing
In November, I began a part-time contract role as a content creator for two companies operating under the same leadership: Original Maine and Maine Flag Company. I brainstorm ideas with the owners to drive business to both the online and physical store, and independently film, photograph, and edit content. All captions are drafted by me and edited by management.
When I joined the team, I found that customers were sometimes confused by the two company names. In response, I created a video explaining the difference between each brand — and redirecting viewers to where they can shop each one.
The Original Maine store is tucked away on a low-traffic street. In this reel, I lead viewers from a nearby popular restaurant to the shop.

Feature Writing & Healthcare Communications
As a freelance writer for the Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation (AAMI), I conduct interviews and write original spotlight pieces on faculty members. The pieces highlight the impressive career paths of AAMI faculty members while underscoring how their partnership with the organization has advanced their careers, promoting both the company and the people I write about.
Copywriting/Copyediting
In addition to writing original features based on my personally conducted interviews, I summarize pre-recorded video interviews in article format. Independent research is required to ensure that I fully understand the technical concepts discussed.
Arts Media
Artypants Magazine is a print publication that features art and writing by New England creatives. The magazine’s three goals are to revitalize the print medium, highlight local artists, and inspire creativity in readership. I work as a contributing writer for the publication.
A promotional post I created for the blog, shared collaboratively on the magazine’s Instagram page. I designed the carousel in Canva, working with the editor to ensure consistency with brand identity, including fonts and color scheme.
A personal essay on the role of art in my journey toward self-acceptance, written with the magazine’s mission and consumer base — women invested in community + the arts — in mind. Features photographs edited, staged, and/or curated by me.
A three-page feature, authored by me, will be published in the next print issue of Artypants Magazine. The article will spotlight the world’s only “Umbrella Cover Museum” curator, musician Nancy 3. Hoffman, highlighting her artistic perspectives and contributions to the Peaks Island community.
